PPP
Usage Hints

Here are some hints on the usage of PPP...

  1. First, always use the "BACK" button provided in the PPP pages. If you use the back button of the browser you may end up in an inconsistent state, and not be able to complete the PPP session correctly.

  2. Second, remember that your account has limited resources available. The time available for your session is displayed by the countdown clock. The clock is a JAVA applet, and it cannot run on non-JAVA enabled browsers. The default user has 1/2 hour time available. You may contact us for obtaining more time. Also, you have strict idle time limitation: usually the idle time is 1/2 of the total user time. If you do not perform any operation or you do not change any page for longer than that, you will be terminated.

There are also limits to the total disk space you can use on the server. This limit is currently set to 20Mb.

No more than three external users can be connected at the same time to PPP. If connection is refused, just try later.

  3. Finally, although a HELP button is provided in PPP, the help is not ready yet. The usage fo PPP should be pretty straigthforward, and from the logs it should be quite clear what went wrong (if something went wrong) during batch runs in the background. Probably the main cause of unexpected errors will be the involontary usage of the "BACK" button of the browser.

If you really get stuck and you do not understand why, send us e-mail, trying to be as accurate as possible in describing the "bug" (we call them features). We'll try to fix them, or give you a workaround.
